Alabama Chapter Recieves SCBA Donation

The Alabama Chapter recently recieved this donation of surplus SCBA equipment to supply Fire Departments in their state with.  The surplus donation was given by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department in Maryland.  All equipment will go to good use.

Our Chapter

While the number of firefighters who lost their lives in 2001 is markedly higher, the fatalities since represent the peril inherent in our profession. When firefighters are lost, families are left behind. The Terry Farrell Fund is there to help with kids’ education, medical bills and support in countless other ways.

Greene County, Alabama Firefighter LODD

We regret to inform the fire service community of a Line of Duty Death that occurred early this morning in Greene County. At 2:36 AM Assistant Fire Chief Stanley Martin Jr. of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department responded as an apparatus operator to the scene of a structure fire at 71 Peachtree Lane, Eutaw, AL.

Alabama Firefighter LODD

It is with regret that we note the passing of Firefighter Dale Scott Queen of the Oak Ridge Volunteer Fire Department in Morgan County.  Firefighter Queen became ill while one an emergency run and subsequently passed away a short time later at Decatur General Hospital.  Firefighter Queen is survived by his wife Elizabeth, and their sons, Tanner, 14; Dakota 13; and Avery, 9. WTC at Cuba Fire Part I

After a successful display at the Cuba Day celebration on Saturday, May 19th, the WTC Steel traveled to the Lauderdale United Methodist Church in Lauderdale, MS.  Cuba Fire was assisted by a sister agency in Mississippi with the transport and care of the steel.  The LUMC congregation held a special service of remembrance for those who lost their lives on 9/11, and also held a service of celebration and thanks…

WTC Steel at Huguley Fire…

Chief Stan Taylor of the Huguley Fire Department sent along these excellent pictures of their department’s activities while hosting the WTC Steel.  The picture with the children is most poignant.  These little guys and gals were not around to witness that day, but through the efforts of the fire service they are being taught about this vital date in our history.

Firefighter Justin Gillen...

On Saturday afternoon March 24, 27-year-old Justin Gillen was killed in a motorcycle accident.  Justin leaves behind a wife, Paige, 10-year old son, Tyler and 3-year-old daughter, Jenna.  Justin had just found a job in January so unfortunately his insurance benefits were not in force yet and there is no coverage to help this family with final and ongoing expenses.

June 2nd Dedication Ceremony

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – May 17, 2012 – On June 2, 2012 the Alabama Fire College will be the scene of two unique events honoring firefighters. The day kicks off at 7:00am with Firefighters Appreciation Day presented by the Rural Community Fire Protection Institute, Inc. and hosted by District 3 Firefighters Association and the Alabama Fire College.  The event is designed as a fun day for kids and adults.
