Nov. 6th & 7th Class by Bill Gustin

Bill Gustin is a 41 year veteran of the Fire Service.  Captain Gustin is a contributing editor and editorial advisory board member for Fire Engineering and an advisory board member for FDIC.

Topics will include:

  • Negative and Positive stack effect
  • Residential and commercial high rise design and construction
  • Wind-driven fires
  • Pressure restricting devices and pressure reducing valves
  • Why any firefighter that says, "Don't worry, it's sprinklered" doesn't realize the limitations of sprinklers in high rise buildings
  • HVAC, sandpip, sprinkler, smoke controls, fire alarm and PA systems
  • Improvising a standpipe in the event of total standpipe failure
  • Supplying and troubleshooting FDC's
  • Estimating hose length
  • Stretching & advancing lines from standpipes

Class is free of charge but donations to the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund Nevada Chapter will be greatly appreciated.  This 501c3 fund was established to provide assistance to Nevada Firefighters and their families in times of need.
